Using Old Scraps for New Projects

I love hoarding scraps of materials left over from sewing projects and art projects. Recently, I made hundreds of paper lanterns out of cardstock and colored film for a project. I saved all of the scraps of film from the project, but had no idea how to use it. After crocheting a shoe out of plastic bags, I was inspired to crochet the strips of plastic film. I wanted to create something more useful, so I made a small tote bag.

The plastic film is very tough, so I got lots of blisters on my fingers from crocheting. Unlike the crocheted shoe, this bag is not very soft due to the type of plastic that I used. Crocheting plastic creates a very sturdy, tough material. For this project, I used a size 10 crochet hook.
